Matric-fail fake doctor Ramesh Swain, who has been arrested on charges of duping several women after marrying them, along with other fraud allegations, has given his consent to undergo polygraph test.

The need for subjecting Swain to a lie detection test arose after several discrepancies were noticed in his statement during his police interrogation. Finding his statements misleading, the police decided to conduct a lie-detection test on the accused on March 16 (Wednesday) following his consent, informed the Mahila Police Station.

Swain was arrested by the Commissionerate Police on February 14 on charges of marrying and duping several women across the country on the pretext of marriage. He has also been charged with cheating other people and organisations by posing as a doctor.

It is pertinent to mention here that, the Commissionerate Police has constituted A ‘Pink Team’ to probe the multi-dimensional crimes committed by Swain. The team includes several senior police officials, a legal adviser, a chartered accountant and a cyber expert.

Recently, a video made by Swain had surfaced during the police investigation in which he was seen crying inconsolably. As per the police, Swain used the video to emotionally blackmail his victims, mostly women, to further his agenda.
