More skeletons are tumbling out of a closet as the investigation into a case pertaining to a fake doctor, who has been arrested for allegedly marrying and duping as many as 17 women, proceeds further.

The imposter, Bidhu Prakash Swain alias Ramesh Swain, allegedly duped a youth of Rs 4 lakh by promising a staff nurse job under the Central government to his sister.

The victim, Bidyadhar Meher from Manglamunda village of Boudh district, now hopes to get his money back from the fake doctor, who, according to the Commissionerate Police, is actually a Matric fail.

“In March 2021 ‘Doctor’ Bidhu Prakash Swain demanded Rs 6 lakh from me promising to get a staff nurse job for my sister. Believing his words, I gave him Rs 4 lakh. However, he continued to buy time with false assurances,” Meher said.

“When I grew suspicious, I insisted on meeting him in Bhubaneswar. To my utter surprise, when I reached Bhubaneswar and tried to contact him, he neither received my call nor did he reply to my messages,” he added.

Realising that he has been duped, Meher lodged a written complaint against the accused at a police station in the Caiptal City. Following Sawin’s arrest in other cases, now Meher wants his money back.

The fake doctor, who is facing multiple cases of forgery, had also allegedly defrauded some doctors in Jagatsinghpur district. He siphoned off the salary of the doctors, police said.
