Panic gripped residents of Bhima Tangi area under Airfield police limits after the body of a woman was found lying in a pool of blood inside a house, where she lived with her husband, on Monday.

Adding twist to the suspected murder, a man with some injury marks on his body was found in the same house. He has been hospitalised.

Though it is suspected that the woman had been brutally murdered in the house, the identity of the injured man is yet to be ascertained. The deceased has been idenified as Priyadarshini Sahu.

The deceased woman was living in the house along with her husband Rakesh and a child.

The owner of the house informed that the couple was staying on rent for the last three years. The couple was married around 7 years ago.

Bhubaneswar DCP, Umashankar Dash, who visited the spot along with other senior officials, said that the preliminary investigation indicate that the injured man had attacked the woman.

“We suspect the man had killed the woman and later attempted suicide by consuming poison,” said Dash. Dash said further investigation into the case is underway.

The injured man, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, has been admitted to the Capital hospital. His condition is said to be critical.
