Married man stabs woman over 'love affair’ in Odisha, detained by police

A woman in Bolangir was hospitalised after being stabbed by a man on Monday night over an alleged one-sided love affair.

The accused has been identified as Dasa Bag from Sadeipali village on the outskirts of Bolangir.

As per the victim, Bag took her to a secluded place on Monday night and tried to rape her. When she resisted, Bag stabbed her multiple times and fled the spot.

However, the accused Bag presented a completely different narrative. “I am married and was in a love relationship with that woman. But the woman started blackmailing me demanding to marry her. Last night she threatened me again and pulled my hair. I got tensed and stabbed her with a small knife I had in my pocket,” Bag said.

Bag denied raping the woman.

The seriously injured woman was admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir for treatment.

The police have launched a probe in this connection. They have detained Bag for questioning.
