In a big success in anti-insurgency operations, the Jharkhand police arrested a top Maoist leader, Prashant Bose, who had a bounty of Rs 1 Crore on his head, and his wife Sheela Marndi on Friday.

Prashant Bose, also known as Kishan Da’ and his wife Sheela are two of the most wanted left wing extremists who the police were searching for since long.

As per reports, Kishan was a member of the CPI Polit Bureau and was the secretary of the Eastern Region Maoist Organisation.

Kishan’s wife Sheela was also a top maoist commander who was arrested in 2006 and was serving her sentence in Rourkela jail. She was released from jail after serving a term in 2016.

 

Recently, top Maoist leader Akki Raju Hargopal alias Ramakrishna alias RK reportedly died of kidney failure and other ailments on October 15.

Declared the most wanted Maoist by the NIA, RK was the mastermind behind the kidnapping of 2005 batch Odisha cadre IAS officer R Vineel Krishna, the former collector of Malkangiri, in February 2011.
