Even after the arrest of Manababad Sangathan Chief Manas Das, allegations have been made that he is still operating his crime syndicates from behind the four walls of the prison through his son Manoranjan Das who is out from jail on bail.

Sources said that the residents of Abhimanpur village in Khordha overpowered two goons of Manas Das and handed them over to Begunia police for allegedly trying to spread terror in the village by branding guns and other weapons.

The villagers alleged that the two miscreants threatened them not to raise voice against the Manababad Sangathan.

“Around 10-12 armed miscreants enquired about me with fellow villagers. Later, they came to my house and threatened me. They are operating at Manas Das’s direction,” alleged Anand Nayak, a resident of Abhimanpur.

Meanwhile, the villagers have urged the police to make necessary security arrangement to avoid any untoward incidents.

“The aides of Manas Das are roaming scot free in the village and threatening us. So, police should take immediate steps to provide us adequate security,” demanded Abhi Nayak, a local.

Even though Manas Das is cooling heels behind the bar, allegations have been made that he is strengthening his crime empire through his son Manoranjan.

As many as 15 tribal associations had met the Khordha Collector and SP few days ago and submitted a memorandum to take necessary action against the father-son duo. However, no action has been taken so far.

“We have been demanding to ban the Manababad Sangathan but no action has been taken so far. Rather, the associates of Manas Das are roaming scot free and threatening the villagers. I urge the Khordha district administration initiate stringent action against them,” said Jitendra Behera, secretary of Basti Suraksha Samiti.

“Necessary action will be taken against Manas Das and his aides if we receive complaints against them,” assured Khordha SP Raj Kishore Dora.
