In yet another horrific incident, a man hacked a black magic practitioner to death at Bandha Gaon village under Sukinda police limits in Jajpur district on Friday.

While the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, the accused has been identified as Shantanu Behera, a resident of Bandha Gaon.

After committing the crime, Behera surrendered himself before the police at Sukinda police station.

According to sources, Behera and his wife were living in Bandha Gaon village. They had often quarrels between them over some yet to be ascertained reasons. As the relationship turned sour, his wife went to her parents’ house and stayed there.

Since then, Behera had been under severe mental stress. Then a village sorcerer came to his rescue, promising him to get his wife back. On several occasions, the black magician had taken money from Behera on one pretext or the other. But there had been no sign of his wife returning to him.

Because of this, Behera had been under tremendous mental stress.

Unaware of what lies ahead, the quack again visited Behera on Friday morning and asked for some more money to perform some rituals so that he could get back his wife.

Upon seeing him, Behera got exasperated, reached out to a sharp weapon and started hacking him until he collapsed on the ground. He died on the spot itself.

After committing the crime, Behera surrendered himself before the police.

Registering a case, the police have launched an investigation.
