A man allegedly strangled his mother to death at Pipilipali village under Sadar police limits in Bargarh district late on Saturday night.

The accused son has been identified as Kartika Bhue, a resident of Pipiliapali village.

According to a source, Kartika’s mother was a kidney patient and was staying with him. He was treating his mother. For the last some days, Kartika had been under mental pressure due to his mother’s disease.

On Saturday night, he came home in an inebriated state and before his mother could understand anything, he strangled her to death.

“We are staying outside the village. On being informed, we came today and found her body was lying,” said Sushant Bhue, the deceased’s elder son.

Informing about the crime, Pipilipali Sarpanch Jugeswar Sahu said, “As his brother was staying outside, he had to bear the treatment cost of his mother. And his financial condition was not good as well.”

After getting the information, a team from Sadar police station reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. The Cops detained Kartika who during interrogation confessed to having committed the crime. He admitted that he killed his mother as he was under mental stress because of her disease and treatment.

A detailed probe is underway, police said.
