Police on Sunday claimed to have cracked the mysterious death case of a man in Jashipur area of Mayurbhanj district that took place a few days ago. According to police, the accused person has admitted to have killed his friend for Rs 30,000.

Notably, body of one Dhaneswar Guia with his throat slit was recovered from Sangatamara rivulet near Jharbeda on April 14. The deceased was a resident of Gentei Sahi under Jashipur police limits.

During investigation, police’s needle of suspicion pointed at Guia’s friend Pitambar Behera of Gentei Sahi. During interrogation, Behera confessed to killing his friend over the greed for money.

ASP of Mayurbhanj district, Manaranjan Biswal informed reporters at a press meet that Behera had already hatched a plan to grab the money Guia had kept for house construction.

As per reports, on April 14, Guia took Behera along with him to Bhanjakia market to buy asbestos roof for his house.

As they reached Sangatamara, Behera attacked Guia with a billhook and threw his body into a nearby rivulet before fleeing the spot after placing a stone over the body.  Behera also reportedly decamped with Rs 30,000 cash from Guia.

Meanwhile, during the probe, the police had seized a billhook, a mobile phone, a money purse and a bike from the possession of Behera who was produced in a court on Sunday.
