A man has been arrested for allegedly hacking his brother-in-law to death at Dhirikuti Basti under the Mancheswar Police Station limits in Bhubaneswar late on Thursday night.

Police said, as per the preliminary investigation, the case appears to be the fallout of a family dispute.

The deceased has been identified as Sushant Ghadei. He was working as a sweeper at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in the Capital City.

The accused, Papuni Nayak was picked up by the Mancheswar Police for interrogation in connection with the incident. He will be forwarded to court today. 

As per reports, an altercation ensued between Ghadei and Nayak over some family issues yesterday night. However, the arguments turned heated and in a fit of blind rage, Nayak allegedly attacked his brother-in-law with a sharp weapon and fled the spot. Ghadei died on the spot.

Subsequently, Mancheswar Police rushed to the spot after getting information from Ghadei’s family members and launched a manhunt. Nayak was arrested by the police today morning.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation into the case is underway.
