Man Attacks Wife, 4 Children, One Daughter Dead

Sambalpur: In a gruesome incident of inhumanity that has sent shockwaves everywhere, a man allegedly murdered his daughter and also attacked his wife and three other children before attempting to kill himself in Kuchinda area of the district. 

As per sources, a resident of Joutuk Bahal village attacked all his four daughters in a fit of rage with a sharp weapon. Later he is also said to have targeted his wife before attempting to take his own life. 

One of his daughters died after the attack while three others have reportedly sustained serious injuries. The wife of the accused has also received critical injuries. All five members of the family including the man have been admitted to Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. 

Teams from Garpos and Gobindpur Police reached the spot and recovered the body of the deceased girl.  

Sambalpur SP B Gangadhar informed that the accused tried to attempt suicide by slitting his throat with the same weapon that he used to attack his other family members. "We can ascertain the exact motive of the man behind his such dastard act after he and his family members recover. The investigation is underway to look at other angles and evidence regarding the crime," said the SP.
