The arrested person has been identified as Gopal Behera and the landowner as Gagan Bihari Sahu. On the basis of the complaint lodged by Sahu, Info Valley Police registered a case and arrested Behera.

According to the complaint, Behera obstructed the path leading to the land owned by Sahu by placing a JCB. He also dug up the path. When confronted, Behera asked Sahu to give him Rs 3 lakh to construct his house on the plot.

With no option left, Sahu lodged a complaint against Behera at Info Valley police station. The police took the case seriously and after registering a case, they launched an investigation and found Behera guilty. Subsequently, he was arrested.

“Today he demanded Rs 3 lakh to allow me to construct house on my land. Trying to intimidate me, he also dug up the approach road to my land,” said Gagan Bihari Sahu, the landowner.

The police requested people not to give in to these extortioners.

“I would like to request all to take help of police if anyone is asking for extortion money. Police will take appropriate steps against them,” said ACP of Zone III, Rajat Ray.
