Amid the unrest and tense atmosphere which Odisha has been witnessing since the 'murder' of Kalahandi lady teacher Mamita Meher, the Congress party has demanded polygraph test of the Northern Range DIG Deepak Kumar, who recently claimed that the police investigation into case was on the ‘right track’.

Kumar has been accused of trying to give a clean chit to the Bolangir police in the middle of the probe which surprised many.

Former Odisha DGP Prakash Mishra also slammed Kumar for the latter’s ‘unwarranted’ interference in the probe.

Addressing a presser on Monday, Congress spokesperson Manoj Mohapatra also demanded polygraph test of the Minister of State (Home) Dibya Sankar Mishra, BJD's Pranab Prakash Das and SPs of Bolangir and Kalahandi. "The test must be done to unravel the truth behind the murder of Mamita Meher," he said.

Mohapatra also raised questions regarding the authenticity a the video on Mamita's family members and said, "The State Women &Child Development Minister had not met Mamita’s family members. So, from where did she get their video? Who shared the video with her?"

Earlier today, the BJP  launched 'halla bol' agitation against the ruling BJD government, demanding justice to Mamita and her family and action against Dibyashankar Mishra for his alleged links with the prime murder accused, Gobinda Sahu.

Members of the BJP took out rally from Raj Mahal Square and marched towards Naveen Niwas shouting slogans against the BJD and its supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

"With its actions, so far, this BJD government has made it clear that no one can get justice in Odisha. Our fight is for justice to women and it's not going to stop," said BJP Bhubaneswar president, Babu Singh.
