Amid the ongoing protests across Odisha over the Mamita Meher murder case, Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das on Saturday demanded probe by a High Court sitting judge for an impartial investigation alleging that even an RTI reply could not divulge the tour details of Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra who is presently under a cloud of suspicion.

Demanding expulsion of the MoS (Home), Das said that call details of the Minister, the deceased lady teacher as well as the accused Gobinda Sahu could bring all the culprits in the crime to book.

"We had sought tour details of the Minister. He was with Gobinda and the deceased girl on September 18, 19 and 20 in Raipur. However, we are unable to get his tour details during the same period. The investigation of the case should be conducted under supervision of a sitting judge of the Orissa High Court," said Das.

Meanwhile, hitting it out at the Congress leader, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra asked Das to clarify if he had any link with Gobinda as his son Kranti Das is one of the trustees of Mahaling College.

Patra further alleged a nexus between Congress and BJP. "Congress leader Bhakta Das' son Kranti is also a trustee of Mahaling college and Das had sanctioned money from MPLAD fund too. So, Das should be questioned by the party," said Patra.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Bijoy Mohapatra today alleged that apart from filing the case diary in the court late, the police have weakened the case from the beginning and further trying to weaken it.

“A sex racket was going on in the Mahaling college hostel. And, these facts are produced by the police before the court. Conspiracy is underway to weaken the case further,” alleged Mohapatra.

Former DGP Sanjeev Marik said that it’s (sex scandal) a serious allegation and the police should investigate all those involved in it. “This sex racket seems to be the main reason behind the crime,” he added.
