The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday arrested three persons on the charges of duping several job aspirants by promising them employment in government, private and public sector undertakings in Odisha.

The accused have been identified as Biswa Ranjan Tripathy alias Ganesh (26), Badri Narayn Behera alias Badri (31) and Anil Kumar Jena (21).

The trio was arrested by the Chandrasekharpur police based on the complaint filed by one Arun Kumar Mohanty who alleged that Biswa and Badri duped him to the tune of Rs 50,000 on the pretext of providing a job in Mission Shakti. Odisha.

Significantly, Badri and Biswa allegedly handed over Arun an appointment letter for the post of Block Co-ordinator, purportedly issued by Mission Shakti Odisha.

On realising that the appointment was fake, the complainant approached the police.

Bhubaneswar DCP, Umashankar Dash said during investigation it was found that accused Badri and Biswa had set up the a placement agency at Chandrasekharpur. They started issuing fake appointment letters to several job aspirants in Mission Shakti and East Coast Railway after pocketing large amount of money from them.

“We have found that they had cheated around Rs 5 Lakhs from seven unemployed youths with a promise them to give jobs in Mission Shakti, Odisha. Moreover, they had pocketed around Rs 7 lakh from other unemployed youths with a promise to give them Jobs in Railways, Nalco, ICICI Bank and Electrical departments,” said Dash.

Dash said rubber stamps of Mission Shakti Odisha and East Coast Railway have been seized from the accused and further investigation is underway.
