In a major crackdown against fake Indian currency notes (FICN), Nilagiri police arrested two persons and seized fake notes with a face value of Rs 32,700 from their possession. The accused duo has been identified as Purnachandra Nayak and Binapani Mukhi.

Balasore SP Sagarika Nath informed that both the accused were arrested after a liquor shop owner lodged a complaint alleging that he had been duped with fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination.

Suspecting that a racket might be operating, Nilagiri Police constituted a team and managed to nab Purnachandra. Later, a woman Binapani was subsequently arrested for her involvement in the circulation of the fake currency notes in the area, said Balasore SP.

"Both the accused were circulating the fake notes which had been printed using high-quality paper and printers. We have identified the prime accused who was actually printing the fake notes. He will be arrested soon," said Nath.

Nath further informed that despite visible differences in the duplicate notes, people were easily getting duped.
