In a daring broad daylight dacoity, a group of armed miscreants allegedly looted around Rs 30 to Rs 40 lakh from a Union Bank branch located at Chandaneswar in Balasore district on Wednesday.

As per initial reports, around 7 to 8 miscreants were involved in the bank robbery incident. The incident occurred at around 1:20 pm. All the miscreants entered the bank posing as customers. 

Sources said that the armed miscreants looted the cash and gold ornaments after locking all the bank staff in a room.

On getting reports, police rushed to the spot and rescued the bank staff by opening the locker room.

Jaleswar SDPO and Chandaneswar police officials have started an investigation into the incident. It is suspected that the robbers fled towards West Bengal after committing the crime.
