With the brutal killing of five members of a family in Mahanga of Cuttack district triggering an outpouring of grief and anger, the wife of the accused on Wednesday revealed how the decade-old feud culminated in the murders.

While speaking to OTV, Sunita Sahu, wife of accused Siba Prasad Sahu, claimed that her husband’s elder brother had been torturing them for the past 12 years.

"An altercation broke out after my husband asked his elder brother's family for keys of the house. Later, my husband’s elder brother and his family attacked and thrashed my husband. In a fit of rage, he retaliated and killed all of them," said Sunita while breaking down in tears.

"During the murder, I was locked by my husband inside a room. There was no other person involved in the murder except my husband. After committing the crime, he unlocked the door and threatened to kill me if I do not leave the place," she revealed.

While the family dispute is said to be the main reason behind the brutal killings, a detailed investigation is underway to find out other angles.
Meanwhile, Alekha Sahu, a relative of the deceased, demanded a CBI probe to unravel the mystery behind the crime.

“It is difficult to believe that only one person is involved in the murder. Apart from land dispute, there were disputes over a rape case. For truth to come out, the investigation should be handed over to the CBI," said Sahu.

The police may produce the accused before Salepur Judicial Magistrate First Class court today.
