Magic Mirror Fraud

The desire to become crorepati overnight often leads people to go out of the way and even believe in things that do not have any connection with reality. In one such case, a person from Kanpur was allegedly duped to the tune of Rs 9 lakh by some fraudsters who assured him to provide a magical or antique mirror.

The Commissionerate Police arrested three persons from West Bengal in connection with the fraud after a complaint was filed at Nayapalli Police Station in Bhubaneswar.

The accused have been identified as Partha Sinhgray (46), Molaya Sarkar (32) and Sudipta Sinha Ray (38). The trio had cheated Rs 9 lakh from one Avanish Ku Shukla of Kanpur.

How The Fraud Happened?

The fraudsters claimed that the antique magic mirror had some special qualities. A person will appear naked while standing in front of the mirror and one can see the skeleton if one goes farther, informed police. Similarly, the image of the person will vanish if anyone goes close to the mirror.

The fraudsters also claimed that the mirror also had some radioactive materials, as a result, it will also light bulbs after it is connected.

Seizures Made

Police have seized a car, Rs 28,000 cash, a mobile phone having a video of the magic mirror, and blank agreement papers.
