Two days after a lady software engineer, Sweta Utkal Kumari, committed suicide in an apartment  Shailashree Vihar in Bhubaneswar, a love and blackmail angle has come to the fore.

As per the latest information, the deceased, a resident of Bhadrak who worked with a reputed IT company in Bhubaneswar, was deeply in love with a student of a management college in Bhubaneswar.

It was alleged that she took the extreme step after being blackmailed by her boyfriend. Her boyfriend has come on the radar of police. The police may interrogate him soon.

Notably, the police have recovered a diary and a mobile phone from the apartment room. Her boyfriend’s name, Soumyajit Mohapatra, has been found from the diary.

On Friday night, after her family members could not contact her on her mobile phone despite repeated attempts, they sought the help of Chandrasekharpur police.

Later, a team from the police station visited the apartment, gained entry after breaking the door of the room, only to find Sweta’s body hanging from the ceiling fan.

The deceased’s family members alleged that it was her boyfriend who is responsible for her death. Speaking to OTV, her father alleged, "He (Soumyajit) had joined the software company with my daughter in 2018. But currently he is pursuing his Management degree in an institute in Bhubaneswar. He harassed my daughter so much that she had to end her life."

Breaking down in front of the OTV camera, the father of the deceased said, "Soumyajit was blackmailing my daughter as well. Despite all the mental and physical torture my daughter wanted to marry him. So I went to his home but left getting insulted by his mother. Soumyajit's family also demanded Rs 30 Lakh for marriage. So I denied."

Meanwhile, an audio clip has gone viral in the soicial media platforms corroborating the allegations of Sweta's family. In that clip Soumyajit can be heard speaking with Sweta and scolding her calling multiple times. Soumyajit could also be heard telling Sweta to get lost from his life. But she denies and accuses him of playing game with her life.
