A day after the formation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the alleged murder of a BJP worker in Khallikote Assembly constituency in Ganjam district, the team on Saturday visited the crime scene and started a probe. 

The team along with sniffer dog and forensic experts reached Srikrushnasaranpur village under Khallikote block where BJP worker Dilip Pahan was allegedly murdered. 

Police ADG Radhakrishna Sharma, who is leading the team, also held discussions with Berhampur IG and Ganjam SP.

According to Ganjam SP, Jagmohan Meena, as Khallikote is going to polls on May 20 all the booths have been declared as sensitive booths.

“We have tagged all the booths as critical booths and there will be deployment of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF),” said Meena. 
On Wednesday night, when some BJP supporters including Pahan were putting up party posters in Srikrushnasaranpur village, some youths who are said to be BJD workers reached the spot and launched a deadly attack on them.

Critically injured Pahan and three others were rescued and immediately rushed to Khallikote Community Health Center. Later they were shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as their condition deteriorated.

However, while undergoing treatment Pahan succumbed to injuries.
