A woman tried to kill herself outside Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Keonjhar on Friday over delay in action by police on finding his daughter. The woman was identified as Manjita Rout.

As per reports, her daughter who is said to be a minor went missing earlier this month. The distressed mother went to the police station to file a missing complaint on June 2.

Later, the woman appeared at a joint grievance meeting conducted by District Collector and SP and made them aware of her ordeal.

But, a delay in action forced the mother to attempt self-immolation after pouring kerosene on her body.

In the meantime, before things could have got out of hands, police foiled her bid to kill self.

“Police have no clue about my daughter’s whereabouts even so many days after I lodged a complaint,” said Rout.

The woman even accused the police to have a nexus with the kidnapper.

“He is threatening me by saying police are in his pocket. I slept with your daughter and will make her sleep with four more people if you don’t pay me ransom. I contact police everyday but not getting fruitful results,” she added.

The woman revealed that the man who kidnapped her daughter is a history-sheeter and had committed same types of crime earlier also.

The woman is demanding safe return of her daughter at any cost failing which she will kill herself.
