In another incident of Kangaroo court, a woman was tied to a tree and thrashed black and blue for allegedly selling liquor at a village in Baliapal area in Balasore district on Sunday.

According to a source, the villagers had been opposing her selling country liquor. The villagers’ pent-up anger finally exploded and they as per the decision taken in the Kangaroo court decided to teach her a lesson.

They rushed to her house, dragged her out of her house, tied her to a tree and started thrashing her. They also recovered 10 litres of liquor which they later destroyed.

As per the latest report, the police were informed about the incident.

Notably, a Kangaroo Court had allegedly ostracised a family over political rivalry at Mirdhapalli village under Sadar police limits in Bolangir district on December 28.

It was alleged that Mirdhapalli Sarpanch Pinku Patel banished a fellow villager identified as Saroj Rout and his family members over political enmity. Later, local outpost police swung into action when OTV aired the news and a team met the family and held discussion with them.
