Kangaroo court: Man and woman detained by villagers over ‘illicit relationship’ rescued by Police

Police rescued a man and a woman who were allegedly detained by a group of villagers under Bangiriposhi police limits area. As per initial reports, both the man and woman were detained by the villagers on suspicion of having illicit relationship.

It is alleged that both the man and woman, who were detained by the villagers after a Kangaroo court, were allegedly thrashed. They were detained for the past three days.

On getting information from the relatives, police rushed to the spot and rescued the man and woman.

“Police rescued the duo and the relatives told us that they would resolve the issue by organising meeting. But now they have agreed to lodge a complaint. Appropriate legal action will be taken after getting complaint,” said Mayurbhanj SP B. Gangadhar.
