Jilted lover stabs girl in Cuttack in broad daylight

A jilted lover stabbed an engineering girl in Pratap Nagari under Sadar police limits in Cuttack in broad daylight on Tuesday leaving the girl critically injured.

As per reports, the girl stepped down from the bus and was walking to her home after returning from her college. Meanwhile, the youth attacked the girl with a knife after she refused his love proposal.  

The girl got critically injured after she was stabbed in her hand and thigh. She was rushed to the Mahidharpada community healthcare center by the locals where she received first-aid treatment. 

The survivor is a student of a private engineering college in Phulnakhara and resides with her parents in Pratap Nagari area.

On the other hand, the accused, who attacked the girl, resides in Pratap Nagari area and has a history of misbehaving with women and girls in the area. 

Following the incident, questions have been raised on the law and order situation in Pratap Nagari area as only a few days earlier the nephew of an Odisha minister had forced a man to kneel down on the road and thrashed him.
