The Raj Bhawan, Odisha and the Chief Minister of Jharkhand have sought an impartial probe into the death of a student from Jharkhand on the premises of a private engineering college in Odisha.
Odisha Raj Bhawan and the Jharkhand CM have requested the Odisha government to order an impartial investigation.
The body of the deceased, identified as Abhisekh Ravi, was found on the institution campus at Jagamara in Bhubaneswar on September 13, just three days after his admission.
On Tuesday, the Raj Bhawan requested the state government to order an impartial probe into the case and take appropriate steps.
At the same time, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemanta Soren expressed his concerns over the death of a student of his state. In an X post, he requested his counterpart in Odisha to order a high-level probe into the death of Abhisekh.
"I request the CM of Odisha, Mohan Majhi to please order a high-level inquiry into the suspicious death of Abhishek Ravi from Ranchi in ITER College of Odisha and take strict action against the culprits,” read his post in Hindi.
Meanwhile, the authorities of ITER came up with a clarification, stating the death seemed to be a case of suicide.
“The police was investigating into the matter. As soon as we found the boy lying on the floor, our medical team in the campus shifted him to the hospital immediately. At the same time, the matter was informed to the police as well as to the student's parents. A medical legal case was also made. The post-mortem was made in front of the boy's parents and police at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. It seems to be a case of suicide. Police filed an unnatural death case and investigating the matter,” the college authorities added.
