Illegal firearm manufacturing unit busted in Odisha

Police on Monday busted an illegal gun-manufacturing unit and arrested one person at Rasiguda village under Raikia Police limits in Kandhamal. 

The arrested accused has been identified as Munibar Mallick, a resident of Risiguda village of Katingia panchayat. 

As per reports, Mallick was arrested in 2019 for running an illegal gun-manufacturing unit. After release from jail, he restarted his old business.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Raikia Police swooped down on Mallick’s unit. They seized a gun, live bullets and materials used for manufacturing firearms. Subsequently, Mallick was arrested. 

Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the matter to extract more information regarding the persons who are involved and have bought firearms from the accused.
