Police seem to be in action mood after Koraput’s Nandapur IIC was attacked by mob at Nandapur Haat. Intensifying its action against attackers, the police have detained many for the villagers involved in the assault.

“Besides deployment of three platoon police forces, we carried out a flag march in the area to avoid any untoward incident,” informed Nandapur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sanjay Mahapatra, adding that the persons involved would soon be arrested and appropriate action would be taken against them.

As many as three platoon police forces have been deployed at the locality to check any escalation in law and order situation.

Meanwhile, the police have detained many persons and are conducting raids to nab the rest, police said.

The police have registered cases against 60 villagers for their alleged involvement in attacking the IIC.

Notably, the security guards of a private security company had visited a China-clay mine at Nandapur on May 1. Since it was Labour Day, all sorts of mining activities were stopped at the mine.

Before they could understand anything, the local people rounded them up and demanded ransom from them.

On getting information, Nandapur IIC Praful Lakra along with his team reached the spot to free the security guards only to face the ire of the mob.
