The Vigilance department sleuths were taken aback on Tuesday after they detected bank deposits worth over Rs 4 crore in the bank accounts of Gaya Santara, Deputy Manager of IDCOL, Ampa Valli Lime Stone Mines.

Santara is now under under the vigilance scanner over the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets. Special teams of Vigilance today carried out raids on properties linked to Santara at seven places in different parts of Odisha.

As per Vigilance, around 16 bank accounts have been found in the name of Santara and his family in various banks. “Out of the 16 bank accounts, 4 accounts have been verified so far, in which Rs 4 crore deposits have been traced. He is being examined to ascertain the source of such huge deposits in his bank accounts. Deposits in other bank accounts are under verification,” said the Vigilance in a release.

Apart from bank deposits, the Vigilance officials have also detected 13 plots in the name of Santara and family members in Bhubaneswar, Jajpur and Nayagarh districts.

- Over 4 crore bank deposits

- Two four wheelers (Grand I-10 & Hyundai Creta) and four two wheelers

- 13 plots in prime area of Bhubaneswar, Jajpur and Nayagarh
