A street vendor selling gupchup allegedly stabbed a youth to death following a quarrel over pending dues in Dhenkanal district of Odisha.

The incident was reported from Palasahi village under Parajang police limits in the district on Wednesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Bibhuti Sahu.

As per reports, Jagabandhu Sahu, who sells gupchup in the locality, was on his way back home after day's business when he was intercepted by Bibhuti at around 9 pm on Wednesday.

Bibhuti, who was reportedly in an inebriated condition, asked Jagabandhu to serve him gupchup. However, Jagabandhu refused to do so unless he paid his previous dues.

Soon a heated argument broke out between the two. In a fit of rage, Jagabandhu stabbed Bibhuti with a knife used for cutting onions leading to his death.

After the incident, the accused fled the spot leaving his gupchup laden cycle on the road.
