GST sleuths carry out raids at 5 places in Odisha’s Talcher

A 20-member team of the state GST and CT & GST departments carried out a joint raid on two businessmen from Talcher area in Angul district on Saturday. 

The two businessmen are Mahendra Behera and Rajendra Behera. According to sources, the raids were conducted simultaneously at five places including their residence at Ghantapada and two business entities - Maa Hingula Transport and Maa Hingula Traders. 

Earlier, the GST raids were conducted on BB Traders in the same area. During the raids, the link of Mahendra Behera and Rajendra Behera with BB Traders surfaced and thereby they came under the scanner of the GST department. 

“On April 4, we visited BB Traders and Om Roadways. During the raids, their links surfaced for which we had to visit Talcher once again. They have two businesses -Maa Hingula Transport and Maa Hingula Traders. While Maa Hingula Transport is their transport business, Maa Hingula Traders is their tyre business unit,” informed Biranchi Mahanandia, City GST officer, Cuttack Division.
