Girl's 'throat slit over one-sided love affair' in Odisha’s Balasore 

A one-sided love affair turned bloody after a youth allegedly slit the throat of a girl at Buanla village under Sadar block of Balasore district on Tuesday. 

The accused has been identified as Bikash Nayak, a resident of Dandi village Under Singla Police limits. He fled the spot after committing the crime, leaving the girl battling for life. 

According to sources, the victim was at home when Bikash entered her house. When she confronted him, the youth hurled abuses at her and her mother.

Then he took out a blade and slit the throat of the victim and fled the spot. 

In her police complaint lodged at Balasore Sadar Police Station, the victim's mother said Bikash had also tried to end his own life by slitting his throat before fleeing from the spot. 

Following the incident, the profusely bleeding girl was rushed to the Balasore district headquarters hospital (DHH).  
On the basis of the complaint lodged, the police have registered a case of attempt to murder and constituted a team to trace the accused.
