Girl’s death in Bhubaneswar hotel: Cops await viscera report, autopsy hints at asphyxiation

Even as four days have passed since the death of a girl student, whose body was recently found hanging in a bar-cum-hotel in Bhubaneswar, mystery still shrouds the incident. It is still unclear whether the deceased, Subhalaxmi Sahu of Kuabag village in Bhadrak district, committed suicide or was murdered.

Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has intensified its probe into the case.  The police are trying to ascertain the exact cause behind Subhalaxmi’s death.

The post-mortem report revealed that Subhalaxmi died of asphyxiation.  Subhalaxmi was found dead at the hotel in Bhubaneswar on August 5. Subhalaxmi had checked into the hotel located in the Laxmisagar area at 3.20 am on Friday.

Under such circumstances, police are now waiting for the viscera report to ascertain the exact cause of death. Only after the viscera report is received, it will get clear whether the deceased Subhalaxmi had consumed some narcotic substance or not, sources said.

According to sources, Laxmisagar Police on Monday quizzed a male friend of the deceased. Apart from this, the hotel manager and three other family members of the deceased are also being quizzed by the police, sources said.
