The recovery of a girl’s body stuffed in a bag in Kanas area is now one of the top priority cases for Puri Police, which has requested the headquarters to tag the case under the ‘Red Flag’ category.

The girl’s hands and legs were tied and Puri Police suspects that the victim was murdered and attempts were made to destroy the evidence as well. The victim’s body was recovered along the banks of the Daya River under Gadisagada Police limits on Wednesday.

“We have already requested headquarters to tag it as a Red Flag case. We have registered a murder case. Our first priority is to identify the deceased and special teams are looking into the missing cases in all police stations of Puri and nearby districts,” said Puri SP, Kanwar Vishal Singh.

According to Singh, three special teams have been constituted and further investigation has started. Once the identity is established, the next course of action will be taken, police informed.

The post-mortem will be conducted by a team of experts in the presence of forensic experts and the entire process will be videographed, said Singh.
