Tightening its noose around drug and ganja mafia, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested notorious ganja peddler, Anil Panda and bulldozed his shop near Niladree Vihar in Bhubaneswar.

The police were tipped off about Anil and after getting substantial evidence, the police raided his house and seized ganja. Later, they arrested him.

With the help of the enforcement team of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), the police pulled down the shop of the ganja peddler.

Anil on the other hand said he has been implicated in a false case.

“I was implicated in a false case in 2019. Now, they (police) are doing the same thing. I have never been into the ganja business. Someone complained about me intentionally,” said Anil.

Informing about the case, Bhubaneswar ACP-2, Ramesh Chandra Bisoi said, “Our aim is not to cause trouble to anyone. We gathered evidence against him. We also collected local feedback. Those who are running drug businesses clandestinely while encroaching upon government land will never be spared.”

“The Commissionerate Police is taking stringent action against the drug mafia. They are ruining families and the future of youth,” he added.
