At least four persons have been detained by the Puri police in connection with the murder of Krushna Chandra Pratihari, a senior servitor of Puri Jagannath temple.

Pratihari, a member of Suar Mahasuar Nijog, was shot dead by miscreants on March 16.

Of the four detainees, two are said to be the main conspirators of the murder. However, the police have not made any official statement in this regard so far.

As per sources, supari (contract) was given to eliminate Krushna Chandra, who was one of the accused in the murder case of Taluchha Bhagaban Mohapatra alias Guna Singhari in 2012 and was recently acquitted along with five other accused.

Some highly-placed sources said there is a close link of Krushna Pratihari murder with that of Guna Singhari. The two conspirators detained by the police in Pratihari murder are said to be the family members of Guna Singhari.

On August 22, 2012, Singhari, a member of Jagannath temple managing committee, was returning from a community centre when he was shot dead by two men. Pratihari was named as prime conspirator of the murder in the police chargesheet.
