In a gruesome incident, a man and his son were allegedly killed by some fellow villagers on suspicion of practicing sorcery at Muthaguda village under Adaba police limits in the district on Saturday night.

While the body of the father was recovered from a field near the village, the body of the son was found from his house. The identities of the deceased were not identified immediately.

According to the family members, the villagers were suspecting the father-son duo of practicing sorcery and doing harms to the villagers. They called the duo to a forest on Saturday evening following a meeting and beat them mercilessly. Somehow, the father and the son escaped from them and returned to the village. However they were found dead in the next morning.

Upon being informed, R Udayagiri police reached the spot and recovered the bodies for post-mortem. Further investigation into the incident is underway.

"Some villagers have killed my father and brother on suspicion of sorcery. We are helpless now. We request the district administration to arrest the culprits immediately and punish them under  the sanction of law," said the deceased father's daughter Ludhia Gamanga.
