A video purportedly made by fake doctor Ramesh Swain, who has been arrested for duping several women after marrying them, has surfaced during the police investigation on Tuesday.

In the said video, Swain, who has been arrested along with his sister, can be seen crying inconsolably. Police said the video was used by the notorious con artist to emotionally blackmail his victims, mostly women, to further his agenda.

Meanwhile, the third phase of Swain’s police remand ended on Tuesday. During his interrogation in the last five days, police claimed to have ferreted out some crucial information from Swain. Most importantly, during interrogation, police retrieved a video and a few photos from Swain’s mobile phone. The weeping video is part of the clips recovered from the accused, police said.

Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash said Swain used the weeping video to blackmail his victims emotionally.

“During the five-day remand period, we also recovered some video clips and photos ofSwain which were circulated in social media. The same clips and photographs were also retrieved from his mobile phone. When asked about the particular weeping video, Swain admitted to have been using the made up act (video) to blackmail his victims,” said Dash.

The DCP said so far 15 cases have been registered against Swain. “Our next step is to conduct polygraph tests on him for which we will seek court’s permission,” Dash added.

Sources meanwhile said while the lie detection tests on the accused is getting delayed, the police are still clueless about the whereabouts of Swain’s brother-in-law Ganesh, his driver Papu and his second wife who are presently wanted.

Notably, Swain has married as many as 19 women. His 19th wife is an Assamese woman who is a doctor by profession. She had lodged a complaint against Swain at the Mahila Police Station in Bhubaneswar on February 24 alleging that the fake doctor had cheated her of Rs 20 lakh on the pretext of marriage.
