How do you protect your family from mosquito bite that leads to malaria and dengue? Well most of the households extensively depend on several methods including use of mosquito repellents. But what if the products that you use come out fake?

Though such products might kill mosquitoes, the harmful smoke emanating from them might pose a serious threat to the health of the family members. Such concerns are now being expressed after a unit allegedly involved in the manufacturing of fake mosquito repellents was unearthed at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district on Friday night.

As per reports, the fake mosquito incense stick manufacturing unit was operating for the past five to six months at Tarinigada area.

The fake products were being sold by misusing the ‘Sleep Well Company Brand.’ The reputed company had initially sought police assistance after its officials came across some duplicity in the products that were being sold in its name in the market.

After preliminary investigation, it was found that some miscreants were selling fake products by misusing the original company’s brand. Later, the Bengaluru-based company had filed a written complaint in connection with the incident at Paradip police station.

The police have detained one person who was operating the fake mosquito repellent manufacturing unit and he is being interrogated. Several labels, powder, chemicals, weighing machine and other materials have been seized from the spot and further investigation is underway.
