A youth has landed behind bars for allegedly sexually exploiting a girl on the pretext of marriage in Bhubaneswar by posing as an official of the Indian Navy. The accused has been identified as Soumya Ranjan Mishra.

As per initial reports, Mishra, who hails from Jagatsinghpur district, had created a profile on some matrimonial website where he claimed himself to be a Naval officer posted in Mumbai.

After coming across Mishra’s profile, the girl’s family approached him and he also showed interest in her profile. It is alleged that Mishra developed intimacy with the girl and recorded some pictures and videos.

Later, Mishra started blackmailing the girl who even alleged to have paid him Rs 50,000 for not uploading the pictures and video on social media. However, the accused allegedly uploaded obscene pictures and videos on social media.

Based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family, Mahila Police arrested the accused and seized a mobile phone from his possession.
