The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Bhubaneswar on Friday arrested another accused in the land sale scam which was committed through impersonation and forgery. The accused has been identified as Bichitra Behera of Malipada, Khordha district.

The accused was arrested based on the complaint lodged by Lipika Das. The complainant had alleged about fraudulent sale of her landed property through the execution of fake sale deeds by impersonating her and by using forged documents.

Senior EOW officials said that the accused Bichitra Behera and his associates had fraudulently made the sale deed by impersonating the real owner. In order to materialize their plan, they also prepared false documents.

EOW said that Behera entered into a criminal conspiracy with Antaryami Senapati, Arjun Senapati, and Sujata Mohanty to sell a plot belonging to Dharitri Mohanty in Malipada Mouza in Khordha. A false sale deed was made by impersonating the real owner Dharitri Mohanty.

In order to materialize their plan, they created a false Aadhaar card by affixing the photograph of impersonator Sujata Mohanty.

“The racket involves illegal sale/purchase of the land by forged documentation and impersonation of the real owners. After the fraudulent sale of the land in favour of the persons of their interest, the accused persons were going to sell it again to other parties,” the EOW said in a release.
