If you are a land owner, then you need to remain alert as someone might sell it without your knowledge. Such incident of forgery has been busted by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

The EOW said that it was a case of organized land fraud involving sale by forgery and impersonation. Three persons, Haladhar Dash, Subadha Kumar Parida and Mamata Parida have been arrested. Sources said Haladhara Das, who actually purchased the land is a retired employee of BMC.

The trio was nabbed based on the complaint filed by one Lipika Das. The complainant claimed that she was the bona fide owner of a 2000 sq. ft. land at Malipada Mouza, Khordha.

The complainant had alleged that somebody, impersonating as Lipika Das before the Sub Registrar, Khandagiri managed to sell away the said plot to one Haladhar Dash. This was executed by a fraudulent sale deed without her knowledge.

“The trio adopted fraudulent means in making the false sale deed, impersonating as real owner and arranging fake witnesses. The accused Mamata Parida manufactured and used a fake Aadhaar card putting the Aadhaar number of the actual owner Lipika and by affixing her own photograph. The accused Mamata Parida also put her signature as Lipika Das,” the EOW said in a release.

Senior EOW officials said that the role of some other persons including one Moharir is also being examined.

“The gang is involved in multiple such cases which are being scrutinized,” EOW added.
