The post mortem on the body of slain gangster SK Hyder, who was killed in an encounter in Saturday, was conducted at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) at Balasore on Sunday.

The post-mortem was carried out in the presence of a Magistrate and police.

According to police sources,  a phone diary was recovered from the pocket of Hyder before the postmortem procedures bagan.

"Hyder's body has been handed over to his family members after postmortem. Four bullets were removed from his body, informed Balasore ADMO Sushant Nayak.

Meanwhile, the Kendrapara district administration has clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in Kendrapara town and four panchayats- Barimul, Kapaleswar, Gulnagar and Jamdhar- to prevent any untoward incident in the areas where tension gripped after news of the encounter came in.

The restrictions will continue to remain in force in these areas for seven days, till July 30 (11 AM). During this period, gathering of more than five persons is not allowed. Only essential commodities like poultry, vegetables and grocery shops are allowed to open during this period, only from 7 AM to 11 AM.

The notorious gangster, who was involved in several gang wars in the district, succumbed to the bullet injuries he received during the encounter on Saturday. He was fired upon by a jail escort team when he allegedly tried to flee from custody while being shifted from the Choudwar jail to a jail in Baripada, near Simulia. Though he was rushed to a hospital in Balasore for treatment, he succumbed to the critical injuries while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
