Two police personnel and an equal number of criminals were injured in a late night encounter in the capital city of
Bhubaneswar.

The gunfight took place at Baramunda high school ground when a police team reached there to catch notorious criminal
Chakara Barik.

After seeing the police team, Chakara and his associate hurled bomb at the personnel. In retaliation, the police fired at them.

Chakara suffered bullet injuries in his right leg and was admitted to Capital Hospital. Similarly, two police personnel also
suffered minor injuries.

The police seized bombs, gun and a car from the encounter spot. However, Chakara’s associate managed escape from the
spot.

Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh visited the spot and inquired into the incident.

“After being tipped off, Khandagiri police along with a special squad reached the spot to nab the criminals. The gang got
alerted after noticing the police team and fired upon them and hurled bombs,” Singh told OTV.

“We are planning to nab all criminals involved in various crimes. Controlling crimes will be our main motive,” he added.
