'Duplicate' sauce manufacturing unit busted in Bhubaneswar

Known for its delicious street food, Bhubaneswar is the right place for food lovers. However, food lovers need to be extra cautious as police on Tuesday busted a duplicate sauce manufacturing unit in the Capital city.

The duplicate sauce unit was busted in Bhimtangi area. Sources said that pumpkin, potatoes and some hazardous items were allegedly used to prepare sauce at the unit. Moreover, the overall hygiene and other sanitation were below standard, the officials found.

A senior food official said, “We had earlier found that the sauce served at various street joints was not up to the mark. After a detailed investigation, we found the spot and today we carried out an inspection.”

The senior official said that the concerned unit had some registration. However, the condition of the area where the product was prepared was not up to the mark. Similarly, all artificial things were used to manufacture sauce, she added.
