  • Manoj Mallick alias Dipu and Om Prakash Swain alias Om, who worked for Dhala Samant brothers, went missing in 2013.

The Commissionerate Police on Monday arrested Pradip Sahu alias Dilu, one of the key accused in the sensational Dipu- Om double murder case that rocked the state November 2013.

The accused who had been absconding since the last 5 years was finally nabbed from Rayagada by a special team led by DCP Cuttack, Prateek Singh.

Pradip is the one of the close aides of gangster brothers- Sushil and Sushant Dhal Samant who were earlier arrested in connection with the double murder case. A pistol, six rounds of bullets and three mobile phones were recovered from his possession.

Twin City Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi told reporters said that the accused was absconding for the past 5 years and a police team managed to nab him after getting credible inputs regarding his presence in Rayagada.

“Pradip alias Dilu is one of the key operatives of mafia outfit Dhal Samant brothers. Preliminary investigation revealed that he was looking after tender related works. So far we have found four cases registered against him at Chauliaganj police station,” said Priyadarshi.

Manoj Mallick alias Dipu and Om Prakash Swain alias Om, who worked for Dhala Samant brothers, went missing in 2013. Later, police had arrested Sushant and Sushil Dhal Samant on January 29, 2016, for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of Manoj Mallick. Later, the brother duo was also charged with the kidnapping and murder of Om Prakash Swain.

Police then had revealed that Manoj and Om were allegedly abducted from their houses in Cuttack and beaten to death at a farm house near Athagarh in Cuttack district in November 2013. Later, their bodies were taken to Paschini Singhbhum in Jharkhand where they were burnt using petrol.
