The Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate on Friday allowed the police to take the three accused of Dipu Rout murder case on a five-day remand for questioning.

Earlier, the three accused identified as Bicky Mallia, Sujit Panda and Guna Malia had surrendered before the court.

According to sources, the police will interrogate them to unearth the whole conspiracy and their motive behind the murder.

The accused will be questioned about their motive for murder and who else was involved. In addition, the Police will also gather information to see if any criminal cases involving the three have been filed before, sources added..

It may be noted that Dipu was allegedly hacked to death by the three accused following a heated exchange of words during the New Year-eve celebration on Dec 31 at Nuasahi in Sundarapada.

Following the incident, locals staged a road blockade near Sundarpada demanding Rs 20 lakh compensation for the family members of the deceased and the arrest of the murderer within 24 hours.

However, two accused in the case, Vicky Malia and Sujit Malia, had surrendered before the court on January 5, and later Guna Malia, surrendered on Jan 6. Following this, the police had appealed to the court seeking their remand for interrogation.
