The Odisha Crime Branch which took over the investigation into the mysterious death of Chittaranjan Palai, a close aide of BJD leader and State Planning Board Deputy Chairperson Sanjay Das Burma, quizzed the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Burma, among others, on Thursday.

As per reports, Crime Branch (CB) officials questioned Burma’s PSO, Sarbeswar Jena and the nephew of Palai, Dillip who were also present at the feast hosted by one Jagannath Sarangi on that fateful night. They apart, three others; Umakanta Paikray, Suryaprasad Mishra and Jagannath Sarangi were also grilled by the sleuths on Thursday.

If sources are to be believed, a woman from Chakrapada in Puri can is also likely to be quizzed by the CB in connection with the probe. As per reports, Both Palai and Jagannath were frequent visitors to her house.

The police are waiting for the viscera and autopsy reports of Palai to take the investigation forward.

Meanwhile, the investigators are analysing the Call Details Report (CDR) of all the persons present in the feast on Saturday following which Palai went missing.

Earlier on Thursday, a four-member Crime Branch team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sishir Kumar Mishra visited Gadamrugashira near Brahmagiri in Puri where the body of the deceased was fished out on Monday.

It is pertinent to mention here that Palai went missing on Saturday night after attending a feast hosted by another aide of Burma, Jagannath Sarangi alias Jaga at Matiapada in Puri. His body was later fished out from Nuanai near Puri on Monday.

Priyanka Nayak, the wife of the deceased, has demanded to bring both Jaga and Das Burma under the ambit of the probe. “I want the Police to question Das Burma too. They both have conspired to kill my husband,” she alleged.
