Expediting the probe into the sale of fake medicines, Purighat police in Cuttack has taken two arrested accused on two days' remand and carried out their custodial interrogation.

A special team of police along with the officials of drugs controller department will further interrogate the two accused- Rahul Kyal and Sanjay Jalan- to elicit more information regarding the sale of fake medicines used to treat high blood pressure and heart diseases.

As per sources, the two pharmaceutical distributors will be questioned about the procurement of the fake medicines and sale areas and for how long the illegal sale was going on. If needed, a police team will visit other states for further probe into the case.

“The court has already allowed us to take the two accused on two days remand. A sum of around 28 lakh has been seized from two bank accounts yesterday. We have sought details of transactions from the two accounts. Once we get the details, we will go ahead with the financial investigation. Our investigating team will also visit other states once the links of the two accused are established,” said Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pinak Mishra.
