Cybercrime is now a menace as every other day one comes across stories where lakhs of rupees are being swindled by fraudsters in different parts of the country. In one such instance, a BSF jawan lost around Rs 4.75 lakh in a credit card fraud in Odisha.

Though the incident occurred in January, the BSF jawan on Friday lodged a formal complaint with the cyber police station in Bhubaneswar after making an online complaint.

According to BSF Jawan, Alam Khan, he got a call from a caller who identified himself to be calling from the bank from where he had taken a credit card. The caller asked the jawan why he was not using his credit card.

“I got a call and asked the caller to stop the credit card as I was not using it for the last six months. Subsequently, the caller asked for my name, card number, and other details. Later, he asked for the OTP,” said Khan.
